Top 5 Tips for a Basic Setup
Tip 1 (Packing) – Pack extra clothing for all sorts of weather, including rain gear and extra boots. Remember to pack sunscreen, bug spray, and a first-aid kit. Nothing is less comfortable than suffering burns, bites, and injuries.
Tip 2 (Storage) – Stash food in tin canisters to keep it safe and fresh. Use coffee cans to keep toilet paper dry and store matches and money in screw-top jars.
Tip 3 (Campsite Setup) – Set up compartmentalized tents if you have them, which can zipper to a storage tent or other tents. Quarantine a bug-free tent exclusively for meals. Separate your sleeping quarters from your social areas, to ensure those sleeping will not be disturbed by any chatter.
Tip 4 (Making your beds) – Fold bubble wrap for a cushy mat. Be thrifty and use the wrap as a mattress as well, or bring along a foam or air mattress if you have extra money in the budget.
Tip 5 (The mighty aluminum foil) – Use aluminum foil to cover drinks, layer it to use as cookware, or use it as a cooking workspace.
