We are finally reflecting back on our Memorial Day Weekend camping trip this year, and all I can say is, WOW! It was such a blast and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect.
We went out on Thursday and claimed an island on Lake Wisconsin. We had to choose an island without much of a sandbar because the water levels were so high, but once we found a good island, we started making sure the camping areas were free of brush and poison ivy. We even found an unexpected resident on the island (a little fawn).
It took most of the day to clean up the island, so that night we only set up a couple of the tents and had a small fire going before getting some sleep.
On Friday, we had more people to help finish setting everything up. We set up two camping areas, two kitchen areas, two fire pits, and a couple areas for games and activities. It took most of the day to get everything set up, but it was worth it. The campers we had with us Friday night really enjoyed their time.
On Saturday, we had a bunch of people come out for a day trip, and a few more come for camping. Those that came for the day trip got to enjoy a couple boat rides, relaxing on the beach, playing some games, and grilling some lunch by the lake. The kids really enjoyed splashing around in the water, while the adults enjoyed their cold beverages.
Sunday was all about relaxing and enjoying the nice weather. Those that stayed for camping enjoyed some more boat trips.
Monday was the day to clean up and head home, except for our campers who got to just get a boat ride back to their cars and head home since we take care of all the hard stuff.
It took us a few hours to tear everything down and load it up on the boat to take back to the boat landing. Once we had everything loaded in the truck, we headed home.
While it always feels good to be home after a long weekend, we couldn’t have asked for a better time during our 2017 Memorial Day Weekend Trip.
